After a long and illustrious winemaking career in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, celebrated winemaker Joe Dobbes has turned his attention to Iterum Wines and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Food & Wine Trails family for an inaugural cruise through Burgundy and Provence.
Joe and his lovely wife, Iterum co-founder, Patricia will be your congenial hosts as you sail the the beautiful Rhône River, exploring stunning landscapes, rich history, exquisite cuisine and incredible wines. Trace the footsteps of Van Gogh, Cézanne, and Gauguin on this magnificent journey where tradition is as deeply rooted as the historic grapevines on the hills.
Step aboard Uniworld’s elegant S.S. Catherine in Lyon, considered the gastronomic capital of France for an overnight stay giving you time to enjoy traditional Lyonnaise cuisine. Explore the Rhône Valley on your journey through charming Beaune and the twin villages of Tournon and Tain-l’Hermitage where a hike among the steepest vineyards along the Rhône and tasting the fruit that has been transformed into legendary wine is a “must-do”. The walled city of Avignon is one of the most fascinating towns in southern France. You’ll see the Palace of the Popes and have the chance to visit a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct. Conclude with an overnight stay in Arles known for its well-preserved Roman ruins and Vincent van Gogh’s inspiration for his famous paintings.
