Spend the day in the beautiful Côtes de Provence, a glorious wine region described by wine-author and expert, Karen MacNeil, as “undoubtedly one of the world’s most charming wine regions.” This appellation is Provence’s largest, covering 50,000 acres of vines dispersed from Aix-en-Provence to Nice, with wines of every color and style. Rosés make up 90% of the production, reds account for 6.5% and whites for just 3.5%. Wine has been produced here over 2600 years ago when the ancient Greeks arrived and founded the town of Marseille in 600 B.C. This makes Provence Frances oldest winemaking region! Vines are dispersed among olive groves, lavender, sunflower fields, aromatic Herbes de Provence and dramatic limestone hills.
