Savor the original paella from its source, sip award-winning cava and discover the third most planted grape in Spain that you’ve never tasted. Today’s adventure begins in the hidden wine region of Utiel-Requena. An hour west of Valencia, this area is home to Bobal, a deep red grape bursting with aromas of berries, cocoa, licorice and herbs that has been cultivated here since the 15th century. Since the region is also known for producing world-class cava, start your tour with a glass of bubbles at Hispano Suizas then head to Vera de Estanas to taste Bobal from some of the region’s oldest vines. Stay for lunch and indulge your senses with the fabulous flavors of a traditional Valencian paella. After lunch, stretch your legs with a walk in the historic center of Valencia where you’ll have time to shop and explore the sites on your own before returning to the ship.
