Filippo is the consummate Italian guide and wine educator. He is from the heart of Tuscany and was raised around Super Tuscan wines. Filippo holds a WSET diploma, the highest certification before Master of Wine. He teaches wine classes throughout Italy and writes for the Italian wine magazine, Corriere Vinicolo. He has dedicated the past 20 years to supporting and promoting Italian wines worldwide, and has worked closely with many of the top producers in Italy. With his connections, knowledge and enthusiasm we can think of no one better as your host host.
Filippo took a Diploma in Economics and Management of Tourist Services at Florence University before going on to work in the field of tourism and gastronomy in the USA, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain for international tourist organizations such as Club Med, Westin Hotels, Relais and Chateaux, Kempinski Hotels.
He speaks fluent English, German and French. He has travelled through different wine regions abroad: California (Napa Valley), Argentina (Mendoza), New Zealand, Austria, Germany, France (Bordeaux, Loire Valley, Burgundy). He is member of Slow Food, FIJEV (International Federation of Wine & Spirit Journalists & Writers) and CWW (Circle of Wine Writers).
Filippo Magnani is passionate about his land and all that it encapsulates and as a consequence, passionate about his work. For him going to work isn't a need but a pleasure. His work is about sharing his passion and expertise for food and wine in Tuscany (from Chianti Classico,Brunello, Montepulciano, Maremma, Bolgheri to Elba Island). These are areas that he knows extensively, not just from the prestigious wineries and the world renowned wines but all the little hidden places and people that makes this area so special.
One morning you could be visiting a leading wine estate but in the afternoon having a cooking lesson with a local village chef, part of the true Tuscany, the authentic Tuscany. This is one of Filippo's strengths, he's "home grown" and through this knowledge he provides a truly memorable Tuscan food and wine experience.
