Drive from Tarragona to the Terra Alta DOC and arrive at a woman owned and operated winery for a sensory experience with a tour of the winery. Your second stop is a Modernista-style winery, Catedral del Vi Cellar, located in the little town of El Pinell de Brai. Step inside and be captivated by a striking “forest” of parabolic arches and a graceful helical staircase. Revel in the complete experience: a guided tour of the building, a directed tasting of wines and olive oil with appetizers, and a wine-paired lunch at the onsite restaurant.
After a leisurely morning, check out of your hotel and enjoy a scenic drive to the Priorat DOC region, with the first stop at an iconic estate where wines are certified as Vi de Finca, guaranteeing they originate from a single vineyard with unique terroir and climate. A guided tour of the vineyards and the winery is followed by a curated tasting of four exceptional wines. A second visit and tasting in Priorat DOC takes place at the award-winning Clos Figueras Cellar. Here, the presence of very old Grenache and Carignan vines in the unique slate/schist soils called “llicorella,” helped by some recent plantings of international varieties, showed the way to make wine of world-class quality. Dinner tonight is an experience steeped in the rich traditions of Catalan cuisine. Watch the chef masterfully prepare paella over an open fire, fueled by dried fragrant grape vines that infuse the food. After dinner, check into Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, a luxury 5-star paradise for wine-lovers.
Today’s journey takes us to Cartoixa de Escala Dei, where you will discover the haunting ruins of this Carthusian Monastery, surrounded by centuries-old vineyards and rugged mountain slopes. Next, experience the soul of Priorat at a winery born from passion and a deep connection to this historic land. Step behind the scenes for a guided tour of the facilities, and uncover the secrets of the winemaking process, then indulge in a tasting of their signature wines. Lunch will be at a local restaurant of traditional Catalan and Priorat cuisine, served with local wines. The final stop will be at Priorat’s oldest winery, nestled at the foot of the Montsant mountains. Guided by a sommelier, explore the historic cellar and savor wines crafted with the same passion that began in 1878.
After a relaxing free morning and lunch on your own, head into the vineyard-rich countryside in the heart of Priorat with a stop for wine tasting in the village of Porrera. Next, visit a prestigious estate located in Porrera, and one of the largest vineyards in the DOQ Priorat region. The winery produces three signature labels, each crafted from distinct estate vineyards and holding the esteemed “Vi de Vila” designation. You’ll enjoy a warm welcome and an in-depth tour of the property, followed by an extensive tasting of their premium wines in a stunning tasting room, complimented by local snacks. A farewell dinner tonight will take place at the hotel’s restaurant, Vinum. Enjoy a complete gastronomic experience in an exceptional setting.
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, it is time bid farewell – cherishing the memories made with your fellow travelers. Transfer at your own pace to the airport or continue onward to wherever your next adventure leads.
