The food matches the wines, with flavors that marry South America and European styles. The scenery is spectacular - with wineries being built at no apparent regard to costs, and vineyards framed by 22,000-foot high, snow capped peaks.

After checking into your hotel, you will have time to relax before meeting the group for a traditional and flavorful dinner.

During this exciting pre-cruise program you visit two different wine regions with an expert guide and sommelier; the Lujan de Cuyo wine region and southwest of Mendoza into Uco Valley.

The small town of Lujan de Cuyo is on the northern banks of the Mendoza River, and it is from here that the viticultural area of the same name stretches south for roughly 20 miles between the Andes Mountains in the west and the Lunlunta hills in the east. The region was the first in Argentina to be officially recognized as an appellation in 1993.

Although considered part of the Mendoza region, the Uco Valley can be recognized in its own right on several counts. Not only is the vine-growing area quite distinct; the region is also home to several of Argentina's top producers. Attracted by the excellent climate and soil, newcomers such as Bordeaux-based names Lurton, Dassault, Rothschild and Rolland have raised the region's profile. The vineyards of Vista Flores have produced some particularly successful wines.
