Dear Lovers of Wine & Food:

I’d like to invite you to join us on our inaugural American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF) cruise September 19-29, 2013 beginning in avant-garde Barcelona and ending in old-world Lisbon. We’re thrilled to have Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery, one of the preeminent family-run estate wineries of the Napa Valley, present their wines throughout the cruise. Lindy Novak, of Spottswoode, will highlight her family’s renowned Estate Cabernet Sauvignon in an exclusive onboard tasting. There will also be a mouth-watering five-course meal planned especially for our group with expertly paired wines from this acclaimed winery.

A further exclusive treat will be a vertical tasting of the Barrel Reserve Pinot Noir of Heart & Hands Wine Company, one of the top tier Finger Lakes boutique wineries. My wife and I live in this lovely wine-growing region and look forward to sharing this with you.

We’re delighted to be cruising onboard Oceania Cruises' Riviera, a new boat especially designed for the food and wine aficionado. It is a very special treat that world-renowned Master Chef and Oceania Cruises’ Executive Culinary Director, Jacques Pepin will be onboard this sailing! Jacques will be treating all ship guests to specially designed signature menus, engaging lectures, and culinary demonstrations.

In addition, there will be numerous opportunities for private tours of key wine areas along the way, including Mallorca and Jerez (Sherry). The Jerez tour includes both a visit to and tasting at Lustau, the premier sherry bodega and a tour of one of the finest private home art collections in the world!

AIWF, founded over 30 years ago by Julia Child, Robert Mondavi and Dick Graff, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational and charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of what we eat and drink. Besides having a good time, our 20 chapters encourage the next generations with our hands on Days of Taste ® programs (which connect chefs and farmers with schoolkids to help them experience the wonders of real food) as well as our culinary scholarships. A portion of your cruise fees will go towards supporting these important initiatives and we thank you for your help.
