About Us

Food & Wine Trails approaches world cultures through food and wine.

We believe the only way to truly know a place is to experience it first hand - the people, the food and wine, the land itself. What better way is there than through an intimate, specialized culinary travel experience?

All our travel programs are small to ensure a highly personal experience that cannot be gleaned from guidebooks or purchased from conventional, "mass market" travel suppliers. Participants travel with a small group of like-minded individuals who want to explore a region through its artisan food and wine.

In partnership with experts, chefs and winemakers, we offer a "behind-the-kitchen-door" or "behind-the-wine-barrel" perspective - special access that enables travelers to enjoy lunch with the chef or a tasting with the winemaker.

Our trips take participants off-the-beaten-track, providing educational opportunities that engage all the senses.  We satisfy each person’s curiosity, palate and love of travel.

How we differ

Choice: We know that sometimes you eat at gourmet restaurants and sometimes at taco stands. Like you, variety is important, so we offer an assortment of different travel opportunities at different price points for food and wine adventures on land and on sea.

Experience: We’ve had over 20 years experience in producing food and wine travel for enthusiasts and for the crème of the culinary world.  This has given us the international food and wine contacts to give you unique travel opportunities and inside-access.

Professionalism: Most of our staff have been with us for 10 years or more, which assures you of professionalism, consistency and product knowledge. Our operations manager has been with us for over 20 years (thank you Megan).

Quality: For the last two years, the editors of Conde Nast Traveler have given the owner of Food & Wine Trails “The world’s best wine travel specialist” award. We however know that this is not a personal award but reflects the quality of the Food & Wine Trails team. And although we appreciate the recognition, it’s the customer letters of thanks and referrals that are most important. Many of these appear on our website and we are happy to forward more for your review. Don’t be bashful.

Financial stability: We have been vetted! We are the only food and wine tour company to have our financials approved by Access America travel insurance, who are part of the world’s largest provider of insurance. They will not insure or approve travel companies who are financially insolvent. This means that you can insure every aspect of our tours; from our handling of your air flights, to our cruises and shore tours, to our small group land departures. No other culinary travel company’s products can be insured this way.
